Bored in Space Supplemental: Universe 571

Welcome!

It is the 39th Century, and in the 571st universe, the humans of Earth have joined the intergalactic community, for better or for worse. In this one of many universes, biological life has evolved specifically in the feminine aspect, for reasons that lie somewhere between quantum-connected spontaneous evolutionary stimuli and the Creators' own perversions.

Humanity has spread itself across the cosmos, establishing a powerful presence within the Milky Way galaxy through its peacekeeping police force, the Sol Public Safety Corps (SPSC). Working together with the friendly races of the galaxy, the SPSC defends against threats ranging from meteor showers to the feared and dangerous S-Class criminals.

The S-Class criminal is one which can - and does - consume fellow sentient races, usually whole. They are considered the byproduct of a sinister but rare genetic mutation which has made its way into this part of the universe's general biology (through a means similar to what carried the afforementioned feminine aspect across known space).

You should note that fortunately, most known S-Class criminals have been apprehended and offered as a sacrifice to the Almighty Goddess-Queen of Sol.

Thanks to Terran influence, space travel has become, throughout the galaxy, as far-reaching (but also as bureaucratic and clumsy) as the Interstate Highway System felt to the ancient people of the early 21st Century Terran civilization of North America. Most travel relies on private craft, but for the less financially fortunate, public space transport, while miserable, is provided to the sentient races of the Milky Way.

The many known sentient races which inhabit the Milky Way and the general reaches of Terran space include the peaceful but studious High Schoolians, the cat-like and fierocious Koshka, the sentient cloud beings of Luyten 726-8, and myriad other species, humanoid and non-humanoid alike, many of which have a prominent role in Terran society.

In this era, there is no major galaxy-wide conflict, so the general consensus is that the galaxy is at relative peace. Any conflicts which escalate to a level where they interfere with Terran affairs directly are usually resolved by the SPSC's more militarized arm, VALKYRIE, when possible.

The regions beyond the Milky Way are still being explored by intrepid surveyors sent by the Terran Palace itself, as well as fame-and-fortune-seeking adventurers mapping and exploring unknown worlds. Unfortunately, many things on unknown worlds  turn out hungry. Those worlds which support a peaceful (or easily made peaceful) sentient race, however, are added to the growing Intergalactic Terran Sisterhood.

And so this universe is a generally unpredictable, poorly-managed, terrifying and beautiful place. One day you may nearly be eaten alive by a hungry alien, the next, a meteorite could punch through the windshield of your ship, hurled by the gravity surrounding one of the unpersonable Living Moons of Therus IV.
